Captain II rank
M1969 parade uniform

KAPITAIN V'TOROVO RANGA

Offered is a stunning Soviet naval officers attire, a mid 1970s war veteran summer parade uniform of a captain II rank of the Soviet submarine fleet. The tunic and pants are made from highest quality wool and the shoulder boards are golden with two metal stars each. The stars are mounted somewhat farther up on the shoulder boards than the regulations advise.

The officer served in the Red Fleet during the war into the post war era, but likely not further than the early 1960s. The wartime decorations include the medal for combat service, the medal for the defense of Leningrad and the medal for Victory over Germany. The Order of Lenin is a high quality reproduction that has been mounted in lieu of a missing original. The same goes for the Order of Nachimov II class, however dirt imprints in the tunic cloth shows clear traces of a large award being worn. The Order of the Patriotic war is a 1985 jubilee award that has gathered a beautiful patina. The postwar awards include several anniversary awards and the II class of the Irreproachable service award. The impressive white enamel cross beneath the Soviet awards is the polish "Polonia Restituta" 1944 version, which is firmly sewn onto the tunic. The Red Guards is a 1950-1960 issue that unfortunately has a enamel damage.

The yearstamp on the buttons of the uniform can hardly be read but the back side are painted black indicating 1970s issue. The visor cap is a 1970s issue with a beautiful embroidered cocarde and golden decorations on the visor, however the manufacturers label is not readable.

Overall, the uniform set is in very good condition with light wear only. Although sold as a collectible rather than a wearable, the size of the uniform is 48 (US38-40R).The visor cap is in good condition and is a size 57. The trousers tend to be somewhat newer than the tunic but are still a very good match. The belt and dagger are not included.

Awards: Order of Lenin (copy), Order of Nachimov II class (copy), Order of the Patriotic War, Medal for combat service, Medal for 100th anniversary of birth of V.I. Lenin, Medal for defense of Leningrad, Medal for Victory over Germany, medals for 20th, 30th and 40th anniversaries of the Victory, medals for 30th, 40th 50th and 60th anniversaries of the foundation of the Soviet armed forces, medal for 250th anniversary of Leningrad.
