Well kept, lightly worn 1980s-1990s exclusive wool parade uniform of a navy captain Ist rank of the Soviet navy. While awarded the medal for Victory over Germany, the career during the war was on the labor front rather than military, which is reflected in the commemorative medals as well.
Clearly his military service was at the end of the war or following the end of the war in the early post-war era which is further supported by the presence of all three irreproachable service medals.
The uniform set is made from black wool and consist of the double breasted tunic, trousers and parade visor cap. The visor cap is from the post-Soviet era with checkerboard pattern around the base but hold the same high standard as a Soviet era senior officer visor cap. The shoulderboards hold three large metal stars on golden backing with black piping for the rank of captain Ist rank, equal to a colonel. On the sleeves are the correct wide rank stripes, sewn-on, somewhat oxidized, matching the rank on the shoulder boards. The collar decorations are directly to the collar and in very good condition. The buttons are standard Soviet navy type featuring an anchor and all buttons are present.
The awards mounted include the following:
Order of Lenin (high quality copy), Order of Badge of Honor, medal for guarding the Soviet state border, medal to Veteran serviceman, medal for Victory over Germany on labor front, medal for 20th anniversary of the victory, medals for 30th and 40th anniversaries of the victory (labor front), jubilee medal for 50th anniversary of the victory, medal for the 30th anniversary of the Soviet army and navy, medals for 40th, 50th, 60th and 70th anniversaries of the Soviet armed forces, medal for 250th anniversary of Leningrad and 20, 15 and 10 years of irreproachable service. Top mounted is the 100th anniversary of Lenin medal in military version.
The decorations on the wearers right include the Order of the Great Patriotic War I class, Red Guards badge and a academy level graduation badge. Above these awards is a submarine commanders badge and on the collar is an enamel commemorative badge for the "Double Red Banner Baltic Fleet".
The visor cap of this set is a size 57 dating from the early 2000s and is in very good condition with nice and bright visor decorations, golden cord and cap badge.
Overall, the uniform set is in very good condition and shows only light wear. The size for the tunic is US42 or EUR52 and the visor cap is a size 57.
